Two Ancient Arts: Screen-printing with Henna

                                                                                                                    Al-Badr                                                                      Singing Slave Girls
Henna and Screen-printing

These are among the ancient art media. Unintentionally I found myself gravitated to both of them. I first used them separately. One day the idea of uniting them presented itself and I found myself experimenting with it. I printed first on canvas. I found out that henna washes out of cotton but binds with animal tissue like silk and wool. So I got the light but rich brown color of the henna dye by printing on silk and washing it with water then I printed agianwith henna on top and did not wash it for the darker browns. Example: Singing Slave Girls.
That way, I got richer details.
