Goddesses' Fest and Arab Pantheon 2023 - 2024
Goddesses Fest and Arab Pantheon depict Pre‑Islamic deities once worshipped in Arabia. At the center is Allāt, goddess of protection and prosperity; the central bust represents Al‑Uzzā (the mighty one). The smaller figure holding a lotus is Manāt, goddess of fate, and the mirrored corner figures are Isāf and Nāʾila, the couple said to have been petrified after committing adultery at the Kaʿba and later venerated. Painting goddesses is a feminist artistic tradition that invokes the sacred feminine and asserts parity between masculine and feminine forms of power.
Artistic style: My work fuses ornamental symmetry and saturated color with intimate figuration. I layer Islamic geometric and floral motifs, henna‑derived marks, and mirrored compositions across screen print and painting techniques to create kaleidoscopic tableaux that foreground ritual, intimacy, and the resilience of women’s histories.
