Henna

Henna

This is an ancient tradition that women of the East from India to Morocco practiced till today. Each area has its particular styles and rituals. In Al-Mansour’s family house there are two henna trees that her mother cures their leaves whenever needed. The dry leaves are grounded to a green powder which when mixed with water (or other liquids according to different recipes) it becomes a paste with which women would draw designs on their skin. The dry crust then fell leaving dark orange stain that fades in 1-3 weeks. Al-Mansour loves to draw with henna, human skin is her canvas.
